Taylor, Mich. (October 26, 2011) -Moores Furniture Group, a
Masco company, recently reached a milestone in an initiative to recycle
all wood waste from its full-scope customers. Working alongside National
Community Wood Recycling Project (NCWRP), UK-based Moores will now
collect all wood waste to be either recycled or re-used.
To date, more than 60 tons of wood waste has been taken out of the
waste stream, of which 96 percent has been recycled and the further four
percent put into re-use. This activity helped create one permanent job
and a huge number of volunteering and opportunities for disadvantaged
people through NCWRP.
Due to its commitment to new initiatives to drive community
development and help the environment, Moores Furniture Group is a
continual supplier to large housing associations and developers such as
The Hanover Housing Association. This association was the first group
to participate in the program and all its wood waste was collected and
graded by NCWRP, then recycled or mulched to be turned into fuel. This
is the first of many similar recycling programs Moores will run in the
future.
Moores also has numerous waste management programs on site, and the
Melamine Faced Chipboard products contain a high proportion of recycled
material, including Moores' own chipboard waste. Moores tries to embed
recycling into all aspects of its work environment and encourages the
recycling of paper, cardboard, metal, plastic, ink cartridges,
batteries, aerosol cans and waste oil.
